What is a nurse call system？

A hospital nurse call system consists of a central monitor phone at a nurse’s station allowing patients to request assistance from the nurse’s station while in bed or in the toilet or during an emergency. The system has a built-in intercom speaker and can record all communications in a computerized log. A hallway red/green light lets staff know if a call has been answered.
